Good Things To Know About Website Design

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

Nowadays, the high quality web design techniques and internet marketing seem to go hand in hand. There is no website which does not have effectiveness as a goal and there is almost no company that does not have a web site to introduce and describe its products. Not to speak about the sites which aim to build up a fully functional and money bringing store! In what web site design is concerned, the sky is the only limit, with design ideas to fulfill any desire a business might have.

The most important thing is that the web site should fit the company like a glove. This is what an effective design is all about! The website should reflect a solid, stable and reliable business. Otherwise, the confidence of the potential buyer will be for ever lost!

Any web site designer must achieve the crucial balance between the interesting graphics and the efficient communication and purchase processing needed to catch every sale opportunity.

Therefore, a web design professional is the best and the most efficient option youve got! Give up those ideas of web sites which can be created at home. A web development company can build up your entire web site and you will not have to worry about a single thing. You just provide them with details about your business needs and website desires and they will do the work in a very short period of time! This is because they have already acquired a large amount of experience in the internet marketing field. You will all agree that time is always the essential element in any business!

Internet marketing professionals can update and streamline your site, should it already be up and running, but not bringing the increased customers or profits hoped for. A good internet marketing company prides itself in using the most new and effective products and processes. When a good internet marketing expert works his magic, you will be surprised to see an almost immediate boost in the efficiency of your site. That is in attracting new customers and in keep the existing ones. This is the key to success for any web site! You know how it works: a buyer who is not pleased with the design of a web site will quickly loose interest, no matter what products and services the company is advertising for. So try and avoid this from happening!

Things To Know About Ecommerce Websites Design

Sunday, September 30th, 2007

The eCommerce design is very important to the success of any web site. Should a marketer use an interesting design, the customers will most certainly enjoy the web site. The result of this is more money. Isnt it what all of us want?

Well, this is the pleasant part of the matter. However, how can you be sure that your web site design is a clever one and that the customers feel drawn to navigating the eCommerce site? There are a number of mistakes regarding the web site design that seem to occur rather frequently these days.

The first thing that we notice about a web site is the blending and matching of the colors. There are so many sites having bold, garish colors that pulsate out of your computer screen. There is no sign of a well thought out eCommerce design there! Therefore, the color wheel is the best tool to finding out what colors go together. The alternative is to see what color schemes the highly ranked web sites in your niche have chosen for their eCommerce design and simply use those ones!

The links on the web site must always lead somewhere. You can easily test all of your links, thus avoiding these annoying broken links that seem to take over the internet.

No one likes to wait while a web page is being loaded. Every customer who might have opened your eCommerce web site will most surely loose interest in it! In order to prevent this from happening you must use graphics that have been optimized for the web as part of your ecommerce design process. The simplest way to do that is by choosing a specialist graphics package from a wide variety of products available on the market.

To speak about the order process, the customers need to be guided towards a simple checkout process. Keep in mind that for the people ordering on the web, the fewer steps toward final checkout, the more they buy! With this goal in mind, a clever marketer will never limit the payment methods by which your customer can settle their account. The reason is that it does not cost more to offer debit cards and perhaps online checks as payment methods. So why not use all selling strategies?

To sum it up, the customers are the ones the web designers must have in mind when designing an eCommerce website.

How to Create an Advertisement to Promote Your Cleaning Business

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Copyright 2006 The Janitorial Store

Although you may not be a marketing guru, advertising can get your cleaning company noticed by potential customers. But before you spend any of your advertising dollars, decide on your target market. Finding your particular niche and directing your ad dollars to that area will be the most effective way to get clients calling and asking about your services and hopefully signing on as new customers.

Start by setting an advertising budget. A general rule of thumb is to dedicate two to five percent of your expected gross sales to advertising. If you are expecting $150,000 in gross sales, set aside $3000 to $7500 for advertising. If you are just starting your cleaning business this may not be enough. You may need to spend more money running ads announcing your business so your potential clients know a new cleaning service is in town.

Once you set your budget, decide where to advertise. For a cleaning business it makes no sense and would be a waste of your money to advertise in a large magazine or buy a TV commercial that airs on a Saturday night. Besides being expensive, these ads will most likely not reach your target audience.

The common print ad, run in your local newspaper or shopper, is the most basic unit of advertising. Print ads have launched major companies and many successful products. Running ads in a local paper can also be a great way to promote your cleaning business if you follow a few basic rules.

- Your ad should attract attention! Although this sounds obvious, unless your ad attracts attention you are throwing your money down the drain. The most compelling way to have a “noticeable” ad is to have an interesting and visually appealing headline. If you are designing a large ad, think of using a subhead. This will provide added information and can be longer than the headline.

- Your ad should address the reader’s needs or announce news. Tell how your cleaning service will benefit your readers and if possible announce a new product or service such as announcing a new carpet cleaning system that makes your carpets cleaner and your office building healthier.

- Your ad should communicate your company’s unique selling proposition. Or why should the potential customer pick your business to supply cleaning services rather than ABC Cleaning?

- Your ad should tell why your cleaning company is the best in the area. The most convincing way to do this is through testimonials, statistics and awards.

- Your ad should motivate your readers to take action. One way to achieve this is to include a special offer. Offers that work well are discounts and bonuses (get your carpets cleaned and get a free bottle of spotting fluid).

One of the main reasons people don’t read ads is that they do not have a great headline or a visual element that attracts readers. Headlines that work best are those that promise readers a benefit. Flip through a newspaper or magazine and notice the headlines that attract your attention – Save on Closing Costs, Your Dreams Can Become Reality, Get More Miles to the Gallon. Advertising experts suggest using the following words to arouse interest: New, Now, At Last, Warning, Introducing, Easy, Health, Save, Safety, Free, Money or Advice.

Although you may want to use your business’ name in your headline that is not recommended and is one of the common mistakes that small businesses make. Your business’ name does not have anything compelling to offer a potential customer. Remember, your headline should address the needs of your customers and not your ego.

Making your ad stand out can be challenge. Scan your local papers and take notice of what ads stand out – are they ads with reverse (white on dark background) print, color ads, ads that look like they were hand drawn? People notice ads that have illustrations or photographs that show products or ads that have people in them.

Before advertising in any medium call and ask for a media kit. This kit will contain rate information as well as demographic information about the publication (or radio station). The demographic information should include reader’s (or listener’s) age, income, and other statistics that will indicate if this is a good medium to run your ads in to reach your target audience.

If you are a member of your local chamber there will be opportunities in chamber newsletters, member guides and perhaps even on their website. Local newspapers are good venues as most businesses either subscribe or read regularly so they can keep informed of what’s going on in the local community.

Print advertising is one way to get your cleaning business’ name out in front of potential clients as well as reminding your current clients of the services you provide. Advertising is salesmanship and the more information you can give about your services, the more interest you will create. Always remember to include a call to action in your ad – tell them how to buy your product or service! Also include as many ways as possible for the reader to contact you: phone, e-mail, website, and physical address. Running the right ads will get your phone ringing and your checkbook balance growing!

Can You Survive after Malignant Hypertension

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Getting a regular blood pressure check is important as it could well save your life! High blood pressure can be a silent killer in that it can cause other problems such as kidney failure, heart attacks and strokes – sometimes without warning and with fatal results.

High blood pressure is often called the “Silent Killer” This is because it often has no warning signs or symptoms. Malignant hypertension is a severe emergency which is characterized by a severe rise in the blood pressure which cannot then be lowered. It is diagnosed by the presence of advanced retinopathy in the presence of a diastolic blood pressure of over 120 mm Hg.

Malignant hypertension is defined as very high blood pressure with swelling of the optic nerve behind the eye called papilledema (grade IV Keith-Wagner hypertensive retinopathy). Malignant hypertension is accompanied with damage to organs such as hypertensive encephalopathy, kidney and heart.

Malignant hypertension is more prevalent in African type people and also more common in smokers. It affects about 1% of those people already suffering with high blood pressure. It is also known to occur in younger people (even children), and also in pregnancy.

In malignant hypertension, there is usually a characteristic rush or increase in the blood pressure often for no apparent reason. Because it is very difficult to reduce a malignant blood pressure, it can and will cause the vital organs of the body irreparable harm. This can include the brain, eyes, heart, kidneys and blood vessels. (They are all put under tremendous pressure).

Those suffering from malignant hypertension may also complain of:

• Confusional periods
• Decreased urinary output
• Headaches
• Vomiting
• Abnormal sensations to the arms, legs and other areas.
• Some visual disturbances.
• Change in their mental state
• Restlessness and anxiety
• Decreased alertness and ability to think and concentrate
• Extreme fatigue
• Chest pain
• Shortness of breath and cough

The prognosis of people suffering from malignant hypertension can be bleak, as the damage caused to the body is often life threatening especially to older people suffering from malignant hypertension. The common caused of death is renal failure, stroke and especially cardiac.

Some commonly used drugs for treatment are:
• IV fenoldopam (which is the most common).
• Labetalol is another common treatment, which provides a good transition from IV to oral (PO) dosing.
• Beta-blockade can be performed intravenously with esmolol or metoprolol treatments.
• Hydralazine is usually only reserved for use in pregnant patients
• phentolamine is used as the drug of choice for a pheochromocytoma crisis.

Any treatment given to a person suffering with malignant hypertension, should be given carefully as a sudden decrease in the blood pressure from very high levels can be just as dangerous as a blood pressure kept at a consistently high level. Malignant blood pressure should be decreased (if possible) gradually over a period of at least a week with very carefully prescribed anti hypertensive drugs. Complete bed rest is also often prescribed to ensure complete rest is taken.

With a current effective therapy in place, including dialysis, the survival rate after 1 year is over 90%, and after 5 years it is over 80%. If it is treated promptly, malignant hypertension can be controlled without any further complications. However the person suffering with malignant hypertension should be monitored very carefully.

How to Double Your Romance with One-Way Dates

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

Copyright 2006 David Steele

Over time, couples can easily develop routines that become ruts and it seems like romance goes out the window.

Does this sound familiar?

Partner #1: “What do you want to do?”

Partner #2: “I don’t know, what do YOU want to do?”

Then they end up doing pretty much the same thing they have done before.

Couples can also fall into “compromise ruts,” where each gives up what they really want to do in order to find something they can both agree upon. For example, in choosing movies, he might love action-adventure, she might love drama, and they might routinely compromise on comedies. After awhile, this might get old! (True story- happened to me!)

What’s the alternative? How can couples keep their romance fresh and exciting?

Try rotating the following four ONE-WAY DATES:

TYPE 1: Partner #1 creates a romantic experience for partner #2

The purpose of this date is to give a gift and please partner #2 one hundred percent. This doesn’t have to cost anything, and doesn’t even require going anywhere, as long as the time and activities are creatively focused on what would please partner #2.

TYPE 2: Switch; partner #2 creates a romantic experience for partner #1

TYPE 3: Partner #1 creates a self-centered romantic experience

The purpose of this date is for partner #1 to please themselves 100%, to have romance exactly the way they want, sharing the experience with partner #2 in the way they wish, but not worrying about partner #2’s experience at all.

TYPE 4: Switch; partner #2 creates a self-centered romantic experience

To work, this requires planning and coordination. I suggest couples plan their dates and one-way types on a calendar a year in advance. This may sacrifice the spontaneity that some prefer but often can’t sustain, for intentionality that can continue to create romantic closeness and excitement for decades to come.

I have found that trying to reach agreement on everything can hinder creativity and dilute the possibilities. Using these One-Way Dates allows for each partner to freely and creatively choose activities that would truly please themselves or their partner, without eliminating exciting choices trying to please both.

ONE-WAY DECISION MAKING

As much as we value mutuality and agreement, wouldn’t it be nice to get your way sometimes, even when your partner disagrees?

Similar to the “One Way Date” is the GIMME.

A “Gimme” is a request one partner makes of another, when there is something they would really like to have or do that the partner disagrees with.

Let’s say that partner #1 really wants to go to the opera, but partner #2 hates the opera. Partner #1 really wants to go, but doesn’t want to go alone or with someone else, they want to go with their partner!

Partner #1 could ask for a “gimme” which means “please do this as a gift for me, not because you agree or want to, but give this to me because you love me and want me to be happy.”

Ground rules:

- A gimme is not asked for lightly or often

- When asked for a gimme, try your best to say “Yes”

- When delivering a gimme, do so with a positive attitude

- The gimme is a gift, delivered with unconditional love, without expectation of a quid pro quo

Sometimes in a relationship, ONE way is the BEST way!

Getting Healthy With Yoga

Tuesday, September 11th, 2007

People have always believed that yoga can do more for your body than just keeping it fit and flexible. Research now shows it can help weight control, lower back pain, insomnia and even heart disease. Studies indicate yoga helps with weight loss and maintenance. In a study of 15,000 adults, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center found that those who did not practice yoga gained approximately 18.5 pounds more over a 10-year period than those who practiced for at least four years. There was also a study done at the Preventive Medicine Research Institute in Sausalito, California. This study found people who regularly practiced yoga and meditation, exercised and watched their diet lost more weight than those who exercised, and ate a balanced diet, but did not practice yoga.

Additionally Yoga can improve your range of motion in your hips, reducing lower back pain. A study done at The American College of Sport’s Medicine, suggest that yoga increases lower back flexibility and decreases pain. It was a small study conducted on older women age 44-62. Persistent back pain however should always be professional diagnosed before embracing on any exercise program including yoga. Yoga’s backbends and forward bends may exacerbate some back conditions.

Yoga can also calm your body and your mind, which can help people who suffer from insomnia. Sat Bir Singh Khalsa, PhD., an instructor of medicine, division of Sleep Medicine at the Harvard Medical School recently published a study. He found a half hour to 45 minutes of daily yoga practice with a focus on meditation and breathing, helped chronic insomniacs sleep through the night. The subjects increased their overall sleep by 12%.

Yoga breathing can help lower your heart rate and calm your nervous system. The breathing techniques can help alleviate serious anxiety and depression and reduce stress. Practicing yoga for an hour and a half three times a week can make your heart healthier in just six weeks. A recent study out of Yale University School of Medicine had 33 men and women who practiced yoga at that rate. This lowered their blood pressure and improved their blood vessels’ ability to expand and contract by 17%. Researchers believe the improvements are based on the stress-reducing benefits of yoga.

Framing And Hanging Oil Paintings

Monday, September 10th, 2007

The frame gives a more finished look to the oil painting and helps define the boundaries of the artwork. The marriage of a frame with an oil painting may be harmonious or discordant, enhancing or distracting – a poorly chosen frame can ruin the appearance of the oil painting, while an appropriate one can make it shine.

There are many different styles, colors and price ranges of frames with cheap ones made in moulded plastic and more expensive ones carved in wood. An oil painting may be seen in different frames either by the use of computer-generated montages on the internet, or by physically standing the oil painting in successive frames in a framer’s shop. The final choice of the frame depends on the owner’s personal taste, the proposed location of the oil painting, the harmony between oil painting and frame, and the relationship of the frame to the room where it will hang.

With modern art, you may choose to hang your oil painting without a frame. Providing that the stretcher is solid and reasonably thick, then the oil painting can be wired to hang without a frame. This unframed approach to exhibiting modern oil paintings means that the viewer focuses entirely on the artwork itself.

How to Hang an Oil Painting

Materials:

2 eye screws
Woven picture wire.

Procedure:

1) Mark 2 points on the inside of the two side stretcher bars about 25% down from the top of the canvas.

2) Screw the eyes into the stretcher being careful not to apply pressure to the stretched area of the canvas.

3) Measure a piece of wire the width of the canvas plus 6-8 inches.

4) Thread the wire through the first screw twice then neatly wrap the remaining wire around itself.

5) Pull the wire across the back of the painting so it is not quite taut then repeat the threading process on the second side.

6) To hang the oil painting, use an appropriately strong hook, i.e. one that can support double the weight of the painting. The painting should hang as flush to the wall as possible.

The History Of The Green Berets

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Special Forces Major Herbert Brucker was behind the beginning of the green beret designation in the year 1953. Brucker began the designation which would later be realized by First Lieutenant Roger Pezelle who adopted it for his highly operative A-Team called the Operational Detachment FA-32. Rapidly, this little green beret would be seen on the members of the special forces units whenever these soldiers went out into the field. However, the US Army was not keen on making the green beret an authorized entity at that time.

Fort Bragg and President Kennedy changed all of that when in 1961; The President of the United States encouraged the General at the time, General Yarborough to inform all of the special forces to wear their green berets to the event. At the event, President Kennedy delivered a speech whereby he made the green beret a “mark of distinction in the trying times ahead.” The Green Berets became a very real distinction of excellence among special forces at that very moment.

Every November 22nd, the date of the assassination of Kennedy, several of the green berets travel to his graveside and pay tribute to the man, the President that enabled this group of very special forces to earn the green beret distinction. The men honor President Kennedy by placing a wreath and a green beret on his tomb. If Kennedy were alive today, they would still honor him for making such a profound difference in the way the special forces are perceived by people all around the world.

Green Berets today are considered to be in a very elite group of special soldiers. They are highly skilled and trained in areas some soldiers would never be interested in pursuing. They are the “cut above” the rest in a group of like young soldiers who can endure the toughest of conditions and succeed. These soldiers are self-reliant in the most difficult of situations and they are highly regarded in the field.

President Kennedy enabled this group of soldiers the ability to stand out in a crowd of soldiers. And while doing so, the irony was ever-present. Kennedy allowed a group of young men to excel in doing what they were born to do which was lead in combat. And of course, President Kennedy was born to lead the United States. The history of the green berets holds a lot of irony in their historic beginning.

Tip-Top Trailing Plants For Containers

Monday, September 10th, 2007

Introducing the top three trailing plants for containers this season.

- Bidens ferulifolia

Within your containers, consider planting Bidens ferulifolia commonly known as the “Tickseed” or “Apache beggar tick”.

Gardeners who require trailing colour for containers or hanging baskets often opt for this native of North America and Mexico. Tickseed stems are quite slender, these fine stems can be expected to trail and sprawl vigorously to around 60cm (24 inches) from a container. The healthy green leaves produced on the many-branched stems are elegantly divided and reminiscent of fern foliage.

During its extended flowering period from early summer to mid autumn, Bidens ferulifolia can be relied upon to produce masses of bright yellow five petalled flowers. Once its flowering is finished, the spent flower heads produce bristled seedpods, which stick like Velcro to your clothes or a passing animal’s fur. This form of seed dispersal led to some gardeners branding the plant with the name “Burr marigold”.

- Bacopa

Consider planting Sutera cordata commonly known as the “Bacopa”.

Just like Bidens, Bacopa is often selected by gardeners who require cascading colour for containers or hanging baskets. This native of South Africa can display flowers of white, blue, pink or purple depending on the cultivar selected. One of the most popular and freely available of these cultivars is Bacopa “Snow Flake”, a white variety that I have seen in more than one or two bridal baskets. The almost innumerable white blooms each comprise of five round edged petals, with a yellow centre to the bloom. The vine-like stems are lushly clothed in down covered jagged green leaves.

Consistent blooming is the order of the day with Bacopa, many gardeners report of non-stop flowering from mid-spring up until early winter. If you plant Bacopa in a position with sun to partial shade, regularly water and feed it, then you too can achieve this amazing level of flowering.

- Surfinia Petunias

Within your hanging baskets, consider planting Petunia X hybrida “Surfinia” commonly known as the trailing Petunia. The Petunia is originally from South America, among the plants closely related it are the tobacco plant, the tomato and our humble potato. Every second hanging basket I saw last summer boasted this colourful trailing plant, it indeed is common, but common for a good reason. The velvet trumpeting funnels of colour produced when the plant is in bloom are almost too good to be true. Colours available include white, purple red or pink, all over dark green slightly hairy leaves. It is well within the realm of even the most amateur of gardeners to grow a healthy specimen of this plant. To produce quick growth and abundant blooming choose a location in full sun and apply a liquid feed every second watering. If you are tired of the “Surfinia” petunia, another great variety for hanging baskets that may suit you is Petunia “Million Bells”
