When someone is diagnosed with genital warts, you may find that you have no symptoms. Some people may not even know that they are infected. The warts may not be noticeable. It is found that when people are under stress, their immune system is more vulnerable to getting genital warts. Most warts will appear on the genitals as elevations of the skin that are similar to warts found on other parts of the body. The warts are usually found to be followed by other symptoms. There can be some itching or pain involved with the warts.

Some of the genital warts can be so minute that it is almost impossible to see them and in other cases, they are so large that it is impossible to have intercourse. In either case, it is so important to have the necessary treatment to get them removed so that you can be free to live a normal and healthy life.

There are many ways of helping. The usual treatments are with creams and ointments. These are usually found to be less affective or may take a longer period of time to heal. Other treatments include laser surgery; injections of medications, or some people decide to let it alone. This is not recommended, however, some feel too embarrassed or ashamed to get help. The truth is that there are many people who have genital warts and it is nothing to be afraid of. You should not feel ashamed about trying to get help for the situation. The Basics of Treating Acne

Dermatologists treat all severe and non severe cases of acne. The objectives of prescription treatment are to stop lesions from forming and infecting the skin. Lesions and scaring cause physiological stress effecting activities of daily living especially in teenagers.

Prescription topical medications
Usually by the time a patient reaches the doctors office they have already exhausted all forms of over the counter treatment. Acne which isn’t curable with the use of over the counter medication is then aggressed with topical prescription medications or a combination of oral and topical prescription medication. Topical treatment can take up to eight weeks before noticeable clearing of the skin.

Black heads, white heads and mildly inflammatory acne are affectively treated by the use of topical creams such as Benzoyl peroxide, resorcinol, salicylic acid, and sulfur which are the most common course for direct treatment some creams may work differently depending on the patient. Patients with sensitive skin may experience side effects such as skin irritation, redness, or burning in the area where topical cream was applied which should lesson or dissipate if symptoms don’t go away speak with your doctor.

Prescription oral medications
Treating moderate to severe inflammatory acne is approached by a combination of topical and oral prescription medication. There are several types of oral antibiotics used in the treatment of acne, although there isn’t not a technical cure for acne antibiotics kill the bacteria in the skin, oral antibiotics must be taken over the long haul to avoid the re growth of them causing bacteria. There can be certain side effects such as intolerance to sun, nausea, dizziness, and changes in the pigment of the skin.

Nodular or cystic acne
The approach of treatment may be more aggressive if you have nodular or cystic acne that has not responded to any other treatments. Isotretinoin or accutane which is a steroidal oral medication taken twice a day with food for a duration of about fifteen to twenty weeks. This medication is known for reducing the amount of oil which is produced in the body’s oil glands decreasing bacteria.

Women affected by over active hormones
Women who are affected hormonally by acne can try less evasive treatments such as low- estrogen contraceptives, low dose corticosteroids, or anti androgen medication all of which are androgen lowering medications. Side effect may include irregular menses, breast soreness, fatigue accompanied by headaches.

Other treatments for acne
There are many other types of treatments and procedures that are sometimes used in conjunction with topical or oral medication. Depending on how acute your acne is will depend on what kind of treatments will be suggested. There are many herbal treatments that will help to lesson the bacteria in your skin.

Treating your acne as soon as sores appear on your skin is the best alternative; however scaring is not always preventable the damage done to your skin will be less severe with treatment. It is never a good idea to pick at your skin with your finger nails which spreads bacteria around on your skin and also collects what ever bacterium was under the nail onto your skin.

The History of the Wedding Cake and Wedding Cake Topper

One of the center pieces of any modern day wedding is the wedding cake. This has a long history dating back all the day to the Roman Empire. However the wedding cake was very different back then.

The history of the wedding cake dates all the way back to the Roman Empire. At this time wedding cakes were not the sweet iced cakes that we know of today. Back then the cakes were made of a whole wheat flower. These bread cakes were then broken over the brides head and the guests of the wedding would eat the small pieces of broken break eagerly considering it good luck.

Later in the 17th century the wedding cake became known as the bride’s pie or cake. These were typically mince pies made of sweet breads. The one of the main ingredients of these pies was a glass ring. It was believed that whichever lady found the ring would be the next women to be married.

Wedding cakes have historically been white a universal symbol of purity.

Another tradition that was probably first seen in fashion in the 17th century was sleeping with a piece of cake under ones pillow. The cake was broken into small pieces and then past through the bride’s wedding ring. The pieces of cake were then given to the female guests who would put the pieces under their pillow when they went to sleep. It was believed that with the piece of cake under their pillow they would have a dream of the future husband.

The wedding cake topper has a long history and has been a tradition in wedding for a long time. It has been so long in fact that most of the details of when it started are shrouded in mystery. Yet there is no denying the significance of the wedding cake topper.

The story goes that it was first used over 100 years ago when the daughter of a baker was getting married. She asked her dad to make some symbol of the love between her and the her groom that everyone could see.

After several attempts and carefully deliberation the baker finally came up with an idea. He secretly place two figurines on top of the wedding cake. One of them symbolized his daughter and the other her future husband. The baker felt this was the perfect symbol of their love and their unity.

On the wedding day the daughter was so excited to see the cake and she was overjoyed with the beautiful gift her father had given her. The figurines stood in the center of the cake and at the center of the wedding. This showed the importance of the love between the couple!

It is not exactly known if this is a true story or not but it is a fun story at least and one that shows the significance of the wedding cake topper.

How to Treat Your Acne Problems

Acne affects almost all of us at some point in our lives. It is caused by a bacterium which builds up in pores of your skin, and spreads to different areas of the skin as the bacteria grows. White and black heads are both considered acne. It is always a bad idea to pick or pop any white or black pimples because the bacteria will get under your fingernails and spread the bacteria from the bump you popped along with what ever bacteria is under your nails.

Many things can make it worse or better considering your family back ground, your genes may be attributing to your acne, many people are predisposed to it. Other factors may include environmental conditions which affect your skin such as air pollution, dirt, and other particles which float around in the air, stress may contribute for some people, your diet may affect how your body disposes of toxins which may excrete through your skin, and of course your hormones during puberty.

Your family doctor or a dermatologist can treat you’re the problem. Depending on how severe your acne is will depend on what type of treatment you receive. If it’s clear that it is affecting your activities of daily living because of the physical or emotional which people with acne suffer. The most common treatment is topical creams or antibiotics or a combination of the two. About six weeks into treatment you will notice if you are getting better or worse, if its not getting better your doctor can prescribe a different antibiotic or topical cream that may suit you better. Other treatments are anti androgen drugs which lower the androgen that your body produces, this is common amount women because of hormonal affects of the body. Although these methods of treatment help or completely remove your problem you have to continue treatment or your acne will come back, which may lead to your body becoming resistant to antibiotics.

If you want to try some herbal remedies before consulting a doctor, it’s worth a try. There are many herbal remedies on the market that help to reduce acne and the causing bacteria. If you wash your face a few times a day with clear glycerin soap make sure you use warm water to wash and cold water to rinse. The reason for the different temperature water is because warm opens the pores and cold closes them. You may want to try lemon or lime juice on your face after a good wash because it is a natural astringent which will help with very oily skin.

If you want to use a facial cleaner that is natural but some what abrasive you may want to try this. Take some mint, lemon balm, eucalyptus leaves and crush them up a little, then steep them in about four table spoons of water for only a few minutes, don’t use high heat, after the herbs have let out their properties, mix this with baking soda and wash face. After wards with cotton ball put on the lemon or lime juice let set for a few minutes, then rinse facial or body skin with cool water. What ever treatments you decide to use make sure to do some research to find out what all is available, and that will also suit your needs.

Remember when job-hopping was anathema? Well, you better take today’s hot new non-traditional career advice . . . start job-hopping!

Things have changed. The economy is booming, Younger job seekers are much more ambitious and almost instinctively understand that if they want to get ahead,. . . if they’re heading for the top, they have to job hop.

It’s really all part of the 21st Century job market and the dramatic changes that have occurred especially since 9/11 and Katrina. The old-fashioned job search approaches simply don’t work anymore. If you’ve been busy writing a traditional resume and then mass distributing it to job sites, job listings, a bunch of companies, some agencies and recruiters . . . well, you already know what I mean.

You’re probably sitting around nervously waiting for the phone to ring. Or hoping today’s mail will bring that priceless invitation to an interview instead of the more usual TNT (thanks-but-no-thanks) letter.

3. Make significant contributions. Just moving through different jobs is not enough. Take jobs that provide platforms for you to make significant contributions. It means getting involved in critical areas such as product development, financial management, technological improvements, or improving production or distribution.

This departure from old-fashioned thinking is just one of the many exciting pieces of non-traditional career advice. It’s part of the amazing new alternative thinking that is consistent with expectations in today’s job marketplace!

4 Steps To Understanding Your Weight Loss Triggers

Triggers are certain foods, situations and feelings that prompt us to overeat and gain weight or prevent current or future weight loss. Different people have different triggers when on a diet. For some people boredom is a trigger, for others it’s stress; for some people it’s a party, for others it’s being alone. People bottom line need much better food nutrition. No matter what your individual triggers are they bar your way to successful weight loss. If you have tried unsuccessfully to lose weight before, one of the things that have prevented your success was that you never learned to identify or control the trigger foods, situations and feelings that cause unconscious overeating. You never turned “I’m out of control” into “No, I’m in control”.

See if you can relate to this pattern: It starts out slowly. Something prompts you to eat some of the foods you cut back on while you were dieting. Perhaps you are at a movie, or feelings stressed, or simply smell some freshly backed cookies. You feel a little deprived because of your dieting and so you decide to just treat yourself with certain foods you used to eat when you felt stressed. Believing you are in total control of those foods now, you test the waters and decide to have “just a little bit” of them. However, “just a little bit” pretty soon grows to be, “a little bit more” and then rapidly progresses to “a lot more”. Before you know it, you are right back where you are started in terms of food control. Then your weight starts inching upwards.

The trip-up point is this patter is where you cannot recognize that certain foods you “gave up” while dieting are not foods you can just start eating again once you have lost weight. The realities are that certain foods, especially eaten at certain places or while experiencing specific feelings, have the power to control you.

How to Turn “I’m out of control” into “No, I’m in control.

Like any behavioral change, learning how to control triggers is a process. Awareness of the influence of triggers and acknowledgement that they are deterring you from your weight loss goals is the starting point for this process. After that, it can be broken down into four steps to help to understand how to lose weight and keep it off for good.

1) Identify
Identifying the foods, situations and feelings that trigger unconscious overeating is your first step. The best way to do this is by using a journal. You can divide it up into three sections for each of your trigger foods, situations and feelings, or just note everything in one place.

2) Decide
Once you have identified a number of trigger foods, feelings and situations, your next step is to decide that you are going to learn to control them. Believe in your ability to do this.

3) Stop
The best way to control your triggers and increate food nutrition, therefore, is to consistently stop responding to them. Not just for a day, a week or a month. Not just while you are trying to lose weight, but until you can control the conditioned eating habit, and in some cases this may mean permanently. True control means that you, not the trigger decides where, when, and what you will eat. On the other hand, if you have a problem say for instance eating popcorn at the movies, not responding to the trigger does not mean you can never eat popcorn again.

4) Practice
Controlling weight loss triggers takes practice. Now that you have an understanding of triggers, put into effect what you have learned. Use the following as examples.

* Trigger Situations
- Write a statement describing the trigger situation. Phrase it in the past tense: “I used to eat while watching TV”.

* Trigger Foods
- Write down what your favorite foods were as a child, a teenager, a young adult, and now. Have they changed? For most people they do, which tells us that taste buds can change over time and with choice. Think about how you learned to like the taste of alcohol for example!

* Trigger Feelings
- write down several of your trigger feelings and state why you respond to the food in that way. For example, “I eat after a stressful situation because food calms me.”

Remember, weight loss and maintaining a diet involves dealing with triggers to stay aware and think before you eat. You can find the freedom that comes from being in charge of yourself.

Scabies Attack!

Scabies was something that I had never heard of until last year, and would have lived my life very happily, had I not been forced to deal with this unwanted, horrifying bug!

My daughter and I had been looking forward to a trip to San Diego for years. It was really my daughter’s dream to go to the San Diego Zoo to visit the pandas and swim with the dolphins at Sea World. That’s all she talked about. So when a special deal came up on Expedia, we took it! We were going to stay at one of the absolutely best hotels on the water in Coronado Beach for a great price and we were thrilled! The hotel was beautiful, with every amenity that you could imagine. We easily navigated the bus system and did everything on that trip that you could wish for. It was the perfect vacation… until we got home.

Well, actually a few weeks had gone by, when my daughter started itching. Her arms were red and covered with tiny red bumps that formed lines. I put some Bactine on her arms and figured we’d wait until the next day. During the night, I woke up with the most intense itching I had ever felt. I thought it was sympathy itching and tried my best to go back to sleep. Nothing worked. It became worse as the night progressed and I woke up tired and cranky.

My son came into my room that morning with the same symptoms. I began to worry. What on earth was going on here? Were we being invaded by fleas? I took the day off from work and we all went to the doctor’s office, where I heard the most horrifying news ever. It was scabies! What?? She calmly explained that scabies were mites that burrowed under your skin and laid eggs! They reproduced quickly and covered your whole body. A million questions went through my mind. How did we get them? I’m a cleanliness freak and if I do say so myself, I keep as germ-free an environment as I can. She asked if we had traveled in the past few weeks because they are often passed in beds. They are sometimes called bedbugs. “Oh, no,” I thought, “so much for the perfect vacation!”

Not to worry, she said, this prescription will get rid of them in no time. But, she warned, wash ALL the bedclothes and pillows every night, or they’ll come back. I freaked out! Bugs under my skin! No way could I cope! I didn’t know which was worse…the itching or the thought of bugs eating me alive!

But as parents, we do cope. I dutifully went to the drugstore and filled the prescriptions. We all covered our bodies that night from head to toe with this awful stuff, which burned and smelled terribly. When I read the possible side effects which ranged from nausea, vomiting, seizures to central nervous system damage, I had serious reservations, but felt that I had no choice. We tried to sleep but none of us could. The itching became unbearable and at night it intensified. My daughter had nightmares that bugs were crawling over her. And the sad truth was that she was right.

A few days went by, and still no relief. Besides the itching, there were other complications. We couldn’t have visitors, because scabies is contagious. Each night when I got home from work, I dutifully stripped the beds and brought everything, including the towels we had used, to the laundry-mat. Imagine washing everything on your bed, including mattress covers, pillows and comforters EVERY NIGHT! And then, doing it again the next night, and the next night, and the next night. It was costly, a lot of work, and not exactly my idea of a good time. I was feeling very sorry for myself, and my poor kids. I certainly didn’t want to try another dose of that medication.

I finally decided to do what I usually do and look for a natural cure. I’m into natural cures for everything, and they had always worked in the past so maybe that would be the answer this time too. Within minutes, I had researched the Internet for a natural scabies cure. I found a product which was a blend of potent botanicals used for decades to deal with scabies. It promised to give immediate relief and also to be perfectly safe, all of which sounded great to me. I called the company and spoke to a representative, who told me not to worry. She promised relief in a couple of days and promptly overnighted the product to us. She was absolutely right. The next day, we felt a little better and after a few days, the red marks covering our bodies diminished as the scabies bugs died off. Relief at last! Finally, after so much grief, the scabies were gone.

My daughter and I laugh now when we look at the pictures of our trip. It will no longer be remembered as our dream vacation to San Diego. Instead, it will be forever etched in our minds as the time we got attacked by the Scabies!
